Getting started
How does Follo work?
You sign in inside the app on Instagram's own login page. Follo reads your followers and following lists and saves them on your phone as your starting point. Each time you open the app, it reads them again and compares them with your last check, which is how it finds who unfollowed you and who followed you.
What's free and what's Pro?
Your Followers and Following lists are free. Everything else, including the unfollowers report, Don't Follow Me Back, Mutual Followers, Ghost Followers, Ghost Mode and the Watchlist analysis, is part of Follo Pro. The plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy.
Why is Lost Followers empty after I first sign in?
Because your first check is the starting point. Follo can only show who left after it has an earlier list to compare with, so unfollows appear from your second check onwards. Nothing can show unfollows from before your first sign-in, since Instagram doesn't keep that history.
How often does Follo check my followers?
Every time you open the app, and whenever you pull down on the dashboard to refresh.
Does Follo work with a private account?
Yes. You sign in to your own account, so your own lists are readable whether the account is public or private. For other accounts, such as the ones on your Watchlist, Follo can only see what your Instagram account can see: public accounts, and private ones you follow.
Which languages is the app in?
Follo is available in 15 languages: Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
What each report means
- Followers and Following: your current lists, free.
- Lost Followers: accounts that were following you at your last check and aren't now. Accounts Follo recognises as deactivated or possibly blocking you are listed separately.
- New Followers and New Following: accounts that followed you, or that you followed, since your last check.
- Don't Follow Me Back: accounts you follow that don't follow you.
- Secret Admirers: accounts that follow you that you don't follow back.
- Mutual Followers: accounts you follow that also follow you.
- Deactivated Accounts: followers who dropped off your list because their account can no longer be found.
- Who Blocked Me: former followers whose profile you can no longer see even though it seems to exist. That points to a possible block, not a confirmed one.
- Ghost Followers: followers who didn't like any of your latest posts and haven't appeared in your recent notifications or Direct messages. If you haven't posted anything, this report stays empty.
- Your Biggest Fans, Least Engaged and Hidden Fans: who likes your recent posts most, who reacts least, and non-followers who like your posts.
- Profile Visitors: an estimate based on interactions, such as non-followers who viewed your stories or liked your posts. It isn't a visit log; no app can see who opened your profile.
- Unfollowed by You: accounts you unfollowed from inside Follo, in case you change your mind.
- Recent Cutoffs: for accounts on your Watchlist, who they recently stopped following.
Sign-in and checking problems
"Instagram session needs attention"
Your Instagram session ended, which happens when Instagram signs a device out or asks for a new security check. Sign in again on Instagram's page inside the app and Follo continues where it left off.
"Instagram didn't recognise this connection"
Your username and password are fine. Instagram blocks sign-ins from some shared networks. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, turn off any VPN and try again.
Instagram asked me to confirm it's me
That's Instagram's own security check, not Follo. Confirm it in the Instagram app or on the screen Instagram shows, then return to Follo.
My follower list isn't complete yet
On large accounts, or when Instagram slows down requests, Follo reads your lists in batches and continues at the next check. The app tells you when your list is still on its way; it usually clears up within a few hours. Follo only saves a list as your new snapshot when it's close to complete, so a half-read list doesn't create fake unfollowers.
The numbers don't match my Instagram profile
The count on your profile and the list behind it don't always update at the same moment, and deactivated accounts, accounts that blocked you and Instagram's spam clean-ups all change the list. Our article on why you might be losing followers goes through the usual reasons.
Pro, billing and cancellation
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel in the store you bought from. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Deleting the app or logging out doesn't cancel a subscription. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Does the free trial turn into a paid subscription?
Yes, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The trial length and the price after it are shown before you start.
How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?
Sign in to the same App Store or Google Play account you bought with. In Follo, open Settings, then Follo Pro, and tap Restore Purchase at the bottom of the plans screen.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the store: for the App Store at reportaproblem.apple.com, for Google Play through Google Play's refund process. We can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.
Privacy and your data
Does Follo see my Instagram password?
No. You type it into Instagram's own login page, and the app doesn't read, record or store it. Our page Is Follo safe? explains the sign-in step by step, including what leaves your phone.
How do I delete my data?
Log out in Settings to remove your Instagram session. To remove your saved lists and reports, delete the app or clear its data in your phone's settings, because logging out keeps them on the phone. For data held by our service providers, email support@follotracker.com from Settings, Help & Support, so your app user ID and device ID are included. The Privacy Policy lists everything we process.
Instagram questions we're often asked
Can I see who removed me as a follower?
Not directly. Instagram doesn't notify you, and Follo can't tell a removal apart from other changes. The clue is on their profile: if you're sure you followed them and their profile now shows a Follow button again, they most likely removed you as a follower.
Can someone tell that I checked whether they unfollowed me?
No. Opening a profile, searching your own followers or using Follo sends no notification to anyone. More in our article on whether Instagram notifies people when you unfollow.
Does Instagram tell you who searched for you?
No. Instagram doesn't share who searched for you or who looked at your profile, with you or with any app.
Can ChatGPT see who unfollowed me?
No. It can compare two followers files from your Instagram data download if you upload them, which we explain in Can ChatGPT see who unfollowed you on Instagram?
